The Rock Hyrax is a medium sized terrestial mammal resembling a guinea pig wwith short ears and tail. I found these in the Dead Sea area in Nachal David. They use rocks to protect themselves as is written in Psalms 104:18 “rocks hide the hyrax”. They typically live in groups of 10 - 80 animals. It has incomplete thermoregulation and so can be seen sunning itself on rocks and spend about 95% of it’s time resting.
